Abstract
Latar belakang : Perkembangan Industri Tahu semakin meningkat pada saat ini, Sumatera Selatan merupakan salah satu daerah dengan industri pangan yang cukup berkembang. Seiring dengan pertumbuhan industri tahu, limbah cair yang dihasilkan juga menjadi hal yang perlu diperhatikan. Tujuan: Untuk mengetahui metode filtrasi menggunakan pasir silika, zeolit, kerikil dalam menurunkan kadar Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) dan kekeruhan pada limbah cair industri pembuatan tahu. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Quasi-Eksperimen. Populasi penelitian ini di ambil yaitu limbah cair industri pembuatan tahu dan sampel yang diambil sebanyak 10 liter. Hasil: Kadar BOD dan kekeruhan limbah cair tahu sebelum dilakukan perlakuan didapatkanla nilai BOD 380 mg/l dan kekeruhan terlihat keruh. Kadar BOD dan kekeruhan setelah perlakuan filtrasi menjadi BOD 365 mg/l sedangkan kekeruhan berkurang. Kesimpulan: Kadar BOD dan kekeruhan yang dilakukan dari fitrasi menurun dari BOD 380 mg/l menjadi 365 mg/l sedangkan kekeruhan pada limbah cair berkurang.
Background: The tofu industry is currently experiencing rapid growth, with South Sumatra being one of the regions with a well-developed food industry. Along with the growth of the tofu industry, the liquid waste produced has also become an issue that needs to be addressed. Objective: To determine the filtration methods using silica sand, zeolite, and gravel in reducing the Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) and turbidity levels in liquid waste from the tofu manufacturing industry. Method: This study used a quasi-experimental method. The research population was liquid waste from the tofu manufacturing industry, and 10 liters of samples were taken. Results: The BOD and turbidity levels of the tofu liquid waste before treatment were 380 mg/l and visibly turbid, respectively. The BOD and turbidity levels after filtration treatment were 365 mg/l for BOD, while turbidity decreased.Conclusion: The BOD and turbidity levels after filtration decreased from 380 mg/l to 365 mg/l for BOD, while turbidity in the wastewater decreased.
