PENGARUH EDUKASI TENTANG BEYOND USE DATE (BUD) TERHADAP PENGETAHUAN IBU RUMAHTANGGA DI RT 016 KECAMATAN ILIR TIMUR TIGA

ABSTRAK

Latar Belakang: Pengelolaan obat di rumah tangga masih sering belum sesuai ketentuan, khususnya terkait pemahaman Beyond Use Date (BUD) yang berbeda dengan Expired Date (ED). Kurangnya pengetahuan ini berpotensi menyebabkan penggunaan obat yang sudah tidak stabil atau tidak aman. Edukasi kesehatan diperlukan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat, terutama ibu rumah tangga sebagai pengelola utama obat di rumah.

Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pre-eksperimental dengan desain pretest–posttest tanpa kelompok kontrol. Penelitian dilakukan di RT 016 Kecamatan Ilir Timur III Kota Palembang pada periode Februari–Mei 2026. Sampel sebanyak 112 ibu rumah tangga dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Intervensi berupa edukasi menggunakan media leaflet tentang Beyond Use Date (BUD). Tingkat pengetahuan diukur menggunakan kuesioner sebelum dan sesudah edukasi, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan uji Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test.

Hasil: Terdapat peningkatan tingkat pengetahuan responden setelah diberikan edukasi. Sebelum intervensi, kategori pengetahuan tinggi sebanyak 58 responden (51,7%), sedang 29 responden (25,8%), dan rendah 25 responden (22,3%). Setelah intervensi, kategori pengetahuan tinggi meningkat menjadi 84 responden (75%), sedang menurun menjadi 21 responden (18,7%), dan rendah menjadi 7 responden (6,2%). Hasil uji Wilcoxon menunjukkan nilai p = 0,000 (p < 0,05) yang menandakan adanya perbedaan bermakna sebelum dan sesudah edukasi.

Kesimpulan: Edukasi menggunakan media leaflet terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan ibu rumah tangga mengenai Beyond Use Date (BUD) di RT 016 Kecamatan Ilir Timur III Kota Palembang.

ABSTRACT

Background: Medication management at the household level is often not conducted properly, particularly regarding understanding of Beyond Use Date (BUD), which differs from Expired Date (ED). Lack of knowledge regarding this concept may lead to the use of drugs that are no longer stable or safe. Health education is therefore necessary to improve public understanding, especially among housewives as the primary managers of household medicines.

Methods: This study was a pre-experimental design using a pretest–posttest approach without a control group. The study was conducted in RT 016, Ilir Timur III District, Palembang City from February to May 2026. A total of 112 housewives were selected using purposive sampling. The intervention was educational counseling using leaflet media about Beyond Use Date (BUD). Knowledge levels were measured using questionnaires before and after the intervention, and the data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test.

Results: There was an increase in respondents’ knowledge after the educational intervention. Before the intervention, 58 respondents (51.7%) had high knowledge, 29 respondents (25.8%) had moderate knowledge, and 25 respondents (22.3%) had low knowledge. After the intervention, high knowledge increased to 84 respondents (75%), moderate knowledge decreased to 21 respondents (18.7%), and low knowledge decreased to 7 respondents (6.2%). The Wilcoxon test showed a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a statistically significant difference before and after the intervention.

Conclusion: Education using leaflet media is effective in improving housewives’ knowledge regarding Beyond Use Date (BUD) in RT 016, Ilir Timur III District, Palembang City.
