Abstract

Latar Belakang :Pada usia lanjut, umumnya seseorang akan mengalami
penurunan fungsi tubuh, dan salah satu penurunan fungsi tubuh yang paling sering
terjadi adalah fungsi kognitif. Berbagai penyakit dapat muncul sebagai akibat
gangguan kognitif. Salah satu penyakit yang sering dialami oleh lansia akibat
gangguan kognitif adalah demensia. Demensia memengaruhi kemampuan kognitif
lansia, terutama dalam hal daya ingat.Tujuan :Studi kasus ini bertujuan untuk
mendeskripsikan penerapan latihan memori Dengan bermain Memory Game
Puzzle Untuk Mencegah Demensia Pada Lansia.Metode:Dengan Pendekatan
Proses Keperawatan. Intervensi yang dilakukan adalah bermain puzzle untu
Mencegah Demensia Pada lansia .Hasil: Hasil pengukuran menggunakan MMSE
menunjukkan peningkatan skor sebesar 6 poin pada kedua klien. Sementara itu,
pengukuran menggunakan SPMSQ menunjukkan peningkatan sebesar 2 poin pada
klien pertama dan 3 poin pada klien kedua.Kesimpulan dan Saran:Berdasarkan
hasil studi,di dapatkan bahwa aktifitas bermain puzzle tidak hanya memberikan
stimulasi kognitif, tetapi juga meningkatkan fungsi memori dan konsentrasi pada
lansia. Stimulasi kognitif melalui permainan sebaiknya dijadikan bagian dari
layanan rutin di Posyandu bagi lansia untuk mencegah penurunan fungsi kognitif
lebih lanjut.Kata Kunci: Lansia, Demensia, Gangguan Fungsi Kognitif, Terapi
Bermain Puzzle

Background: According to data from the World Health Organization (WHO),
more than 55 million people worldwide suffer from dementia, with approximately
10 million new cases each year. Dementia ranks as the seventh leading cause of
death globally and is one of the main contributors to disability and dependency
among the elderly (WHO, 2023).Objective: This case study aims to describe the
implementation of cognitive therapy through memory game play as an effort to
prevent dementia in elderly individuals experiencing cognitive
impairment.Method: This study used a case study approach by applying
gerontological nursing care. The intervention involved providing puzzle-playing
therapy to stimulate cognitive function in elderly clients showing symptoms of
dementia.Results: The application of puzzle-playing therapy had a positive

impact on the intellectual and cognitive functions of the elderly. MMSE (Mini-
Mental State Examination) results showed an improvement of 6 points in both

clients. Meanwhile, SPMSQ (Short Portable Mental Status Questionnaire) scores
increased by 2 points in the first client and 3 points in the second
client.Conclusion and Suggestions: Puzzle-playing therapy has proven effective
in enhancing the cognitive abilities of elderly individuals with memory
impairment. Cognitive stimulation through games should be incorporated as a
routine service for the elderly to prevent further cognitive decline.Keywords:
