Abstract

ABSTRAK
Latar Belakang : Facial wash gel salah satu sediaan yang digunakan untuk mencuci muka. Basis gel yang sering digunakan adalah carbopol 940 karena dengan konsentrasi kecil yaitu 0,5%-2% dapat menghasilkan gel jernih dengan viskositas yang tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui konsentrasi carbopol 940 sebagai gelling agent yang paling baik menghasilkan sediaan facial wash gel yang stabil dan memenuhi persyaratan. mengandung zat aktif buah semangka (Citrullus Lanatus.).

Metode : Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimental dengan zat aktif ekstrak buah semangka (Citrullus Lanatus) sebanyak 3,5% dengan memvariasikan konsentrasi carbopol 940 1% pada formula kontrol dan I 1,5% pada formula II, serta 2% pada formula III. Lalu dilakukan evaluasi penyimpanan 28 hari pada suhu kamar dan 12 hari uji dipercepat (cycling test) meliputi pH, tinggi busa, daya sebar, viskositas, homogenitas, warna dan bau serta iritasi kulit.

Hasil : Seluruh formula memiliki bentuk gel yang homogen, berwarna merah muda kecokelatan dengan aroma khas semangka, tidak mengalami pemisahan fase, dan tidak menimbulkan iritasi. Nilai pH seluruh formula berada pada rentang 5,41–6,27, viskositas 3.079–3.648 cPs, daya sebar 5,2–6,3 cm, dan tinggi busa 3,3–4,5 cm, serta masih memenuhi persyaratan mutu fisik selama penyimpanan maupun cycling test. Berdasarkan keseluruhan hasil evaluasi, Formula II dengan konsentrasi Carbopol 940 sebesar 1,5% merupakan formula terbaik karena menunjukkan perubahan pH, viskositas, dan daya sebar yang relatif paling kecil selama penyimpanan dan tetap memenuhi seluruh parameter kestabilan fisik.

Kesimpulan : Ekstrak etanol daging merah buah semangka (Citrullus lanatus) sebanyak 3,5% dapat diformulasikan menjadi sediaan facial wash gel yang stabil selama penyimpanan 28 hari pada suhu kamar serta setelah uji dipercepat (cycling test). Berdasarkan keseluruhan hasil evaluasi, Formula II dengan konsentrasi Carbopol 940 sebesar 1,5% merupakan formula terbaik karena menunjukkan perubahan pH, viskositas, dan daya sebar yang relatif paling kecil selama penyimpanan dan tetap memenuhi seluruh parameter kestabilan fisik.

ABSTRACT
Background: Facial wash gel is one of the preparations used to wash the face. The gel base that is often used is carbopol 940 because with a small concentration of 0.5% - 2% it can produce a clear gel with high viscosity. This study aims to determine the concentration of carbopol 940 as a gelling agent that best produces a stable facial wash gel preparation and meets the requirements. contains the active ingredient of watermelon (Citrullus Lanatus).

Method: This study used an experimental method with the active ingredient of watermelon (Citrullus Lanatus) fruit extract as much as 3,5% by varying the concentration of carbopol 940 1% in the control formula and I 1.5% in formula II, and 2% in formula III. Then an evaluation of 28 days of storage at room temperature and 12 days of accelerated testing (cycling test) including pH, foam height, spreadability, viscosity, homogeneity, color and odor as well as skin irritation was carried out.

Results: All formulas had a homogeneous gel form, pinkish brown in color with a distinctive watermelon aroma, did not experience phase separation, and did not cause irritation. The pH value of all formulas was in the range of 5.41–6.27, viscosity 3,079–3,648 cPs, spreadability 5.2–6.3 cm, and foam height 3.3–4.5 cm, and still met the physical quality requirements during storage and cycling tests. Based on the overall evaluation results, Formula II with a Carbopol 940 concentration of 1.5% was the best formula because it showed the smallest changes in pH, viscosity, and spreadability during storage and still met all physical stability parameters.

Coclusion : Ethanol extract of red watermelon (Citrullus lanatus) flesh at 3.5% can be formulated into a facial wash gel preparation that is stable during 28 days of storage at room temperature and after accelerated testing (cycling test). Based on the overall evaluation results, Formula II with a Carbopol 940 concentration of 1.5% is the best formula because it shows the smallest changes in pH, viscosity, and spreadability during storage and still meets all physical stability parameters.
