PEMENUHAN ASAM FOLAT TAMBAHAN BERDASARKAN TINGKAT PENGETAHUAN IBU HAMIL DI PUSKESMAS KENTEN

ABSTRAK

Latar Belakang: Asam folat (vitamin B9) merupakan mikronutrien penting yang berperan dalam pembentukan sel dan perkembangan sistem saraf janin. Pemenuhan asupan asam folat yang optimal selama kehamilan diperlukan untuk mendukung kesehatan ibu dan perkembangan janin. Pemenuhan asupan asam folat dipengaruhi oleh berbagai faktor, salah satunya tingkat pengetahuan ibu hamil. Selain asam folat yang diberikan puskesmas, sebagian ibu hamil juga mengonsumsi suplemen asam folat tambahan.
Metode: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan tingkat pengetahuan dengan pemenuhan asam folat pada ibu hamil di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Kenten, Kecamatan Ilir Timur III. Penelitian menggunakan desain cross-sectional dengan Teknik total sampling. Hingga didapatkan jumlah responden sebanyak 70 ibu hamil. Data diperoleh melalui kuesioner, metode pill count, dan Buku KIA. Analisis data dilakukan secara univariat untuk menggambarkan karakteristik responden, tingkat pengetahuan, pemenuhan asam folat, serta penggunaan suplemen asam folat tambahan. Analisis bivariat dilakukan menggunakan uji Chi-square dengan tingkat signifikansi 5%.
Hasil: Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat pengetahuan ibu hamil berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap pemenuhan asam folat dengan Hasil uji Chi-square (p =0,000). Sebanyak 30 dari 70 responden mengonsumsi suplemen asam folat tambahan di luar yang diberikan oleh puskesmas. Suplemen tambahan yang dikonsumsi meliputi Promavit, Folamil Genio, Folamum, dan Folamil Gold.
Kesimpulan: Tingkat pengetahuan ibu hamil berhubungan dengan pemenuhan asam folat. Penggunaan suplemen asam folat tambahan pada sebagian ibu hamil memberikan gambaran mengenai konsumsi suplemen di luar yang diberikan oleh puskesmas.

ABSTRACT

Background: Folic acid (vitamin B9) is an essential micronutrient involved in cell formation and fetal nervous system development. Adequate folic acid intake during pregnancy is essential to support maternal health and fetal development. Folic acid intake may be influenced by various factors, including the level of knowledge among pregnant women. In addition to folic acid supplements provided by the community health center, some pregnant women also consume additional folic acid supplements.
Methods: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between the level of knowledge and folic acid intake among pregnant women in the working area of Puskesmas Kenten, Ilir Timur III District. This study used a cross-sectional design with total sampling, involving 70 pregnant women. Data were collected using questionnaires, the pill count method, and the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Book. Univariate analysis was conducted to describe the characteristics of respondents, level of knowledge, folic acid intake, and use of additional folic acid supplements. Bivariate analysis was performed using the Chi-square test with a significance level of 5%.
Results: The results showed a significant relationship between the level of knowledge among pregnant women and folic acid intake, with the Chi-square test yielding a p-value of 0.000. A total of 30 out of 70 respondents consumed additional folic acid supplements other than those provided by the community health center. The additional supplements consumed included Promavit, Folamil Genio, Folamum, and Folamil Gold.
Conclusion: The level of knowledge among pregnant women was significantly associated with folic acid intake. The use of additional folic acid supplements among some pregnant women provides an overview of supplement consumption beyond those provided by the community health center.
