PERBEDAAN STATUS KEBERSIHAN GIGI DAN MULUT SISWA DI SDN 04 (UKGS) DAN SD MANDIRI (NON UKGS) TAHUN 2026

Latar Belakang : Kesehatan gigi dan mulut merupakan bagian penting dari kesehatan tubuh, terutama pada anak usia sekolah. Salah satu upaya meningkatkan kesehatan gigi dan mulut dilakukan melalui kegiatan Usaha Kesehatan Gigi Sekolah (UKGS) yang berfokus pada upaya promotif dan preventif. Sekolah yang tidak memiliki kegiatan tersebut cenderung kurang mendapatkan edukasi dan pemeriksaan kesehatan gigi secara rutin sehingga dapat memengaruhi status kebersihan gigi dan mulut siswa. Tujuan Penelitian : Untuk mengetahui perbedaan status kebersihan gigi dan mulut siswa di SDN 04 Palembang dan SD Mandiri Palembang. Metode Penelitian : Menggunakan kuantitatif dengan desain deskriptif analitik dan pendekatan cross-sectional. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui pemeriksaan Oral Hygiene Index Simplified (OHI-S). Analisis data menggunakan uji Independent Sample T-Test. Hasil Penelitian : Menunjukkan rata-rata skor OHI-S siswa SDN 04 Palembang sebesar 1,07 dengan kategori baik, sedangkan rata-rata skor OHI-S siswa SD Mandiri Palembang sebesar 2,38 dengan kategori buruk. Hasil uji statistik menunjukkan nilai P-Value <0,001 < (p<0,05), yang berarti terdapat perbedaan signifikan status kebersihan gigi dan mulut antara kedua sekolah. Kesimpulan : Sekolah yang memiliki program UKGS mempunyai status kebersihan gigi dan mulut yang lebih baik dibandingkan sekolah Non UKGS.

Background: Dental and oral health is an important part of body health, especially in school-aged children. One effort to improve dental and oral health is carried out through School Dental Health Program (UKGS) activities that focus on promotive and preventive efforts. Schools that do not have these activities tend to lack education and regular dental health checks so that it can affect the status of students' dental and oral hygiene. Objective: To determine the differences in the status of dental and oral hygiene of students at SDN 04 Palembang and SD Mandiri Palembang. Method: Using quantitative with descriptive analytical design and cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. Data collection was carried out through the Oral Hygiene Index Simplified (OHI-S) examination. Data analysis used the Independent Sample T-Test. Results: Shows the average OHI-S score of students at SDN 04 Palembang is 1.07 with a good category, while the average OHI-S score of students at SD Mandiri Palembang is 2.38 with a poor category. The results of the statistical test showed a P-Value <0.001 < (p<0.05), which means there is a significant difference in the dental and oral hygiene status between the two schools. Conclusion: Schools that have the UKGS program have better dental and oral hygiene status than non-UKGS schools.
