Abstract

ABSTRAK
Latar Belakang : Rambut memerlukan perawatan untuk menjaga kesehatan kulit kepala dan mencegah berbagai permasalahan rambut. Daun teh (Camellia sinensis L.) mengandung flavonoid, terutama katekin, yang berpotensi sebagai penyubur rambut. Shampo gel dipilih karena memiliki kestabilan fisik yang baik dan nyaman digunakan. Carbopol 940 digunakan sebagai gelling agent untuk menghasilkan sediaan yang stabil. Penelitian ini bertujuan memformulasikan dan mengevaluasi kestabilan fisik shampo gel ekstrak etanol daun teh dengan variasi konsentrasi Carbopol 940. Metode : Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental laboratorium (true experimental) dengan variasi konsentrasi Carbopol 940 sebesar 1%, 1,5%, dan 2%. Evaluasi dilakukan selama penyimpanan pada suhu kamar selama 28 hari dan uji dipercepat (cycling test) selama 12 hari. Parameter yang diamati meliputi organoleptik, homogenitas, pH, viskositas, tinggi busa, daya sebar, dan uji iritasi kulit. Hasil : Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa seluruh formula shampo gel memenuhi persyaratan pH, viskositas, homogenitas, organoleptik, viskositas, tinggi busa, daya sebar, dan uji iritasi kulit. Uji kekuatan menunjukkan bahwa formula dua memenuhi persyaratan. Seluruh formula juga tetap stabil secara organoleptik tanpa perubahan warna, bau, selama penyimpanan pada suhu kamar maupun uji dipercepat (cycling test). Kesimpulan : Ekstrak etanol daun teh (Camellia sinensis L.) dapat diformulasikan menjadi shampo gel yang stabil dan memenuhi persyaratan evaluasi fisik. Formula terbaik diperoleh pada konsentrasi Carbopol 940 sebesar 1,5%, dengan kestabilan fisik paling baik selama penyimpanan dan diperkirakan stabil hingga 12 bulan berdasarkan hasil cycling test. ABSTRACT
Background: Hair requires proper care to maintain scalp health and prevent various hair problems. Tea leaves (Camellia sinensis L.) contain flavonoids, particularly catechins, which have the potential to promote hair growth. Gel shampoo was selected as the dosage form because of its good physical stability and ease of application. Carbopol 940 was used as a gelling agent to produce a stable formulation. This study aimed to formulate and evaluate the physical stability of a gel shampoo containing ethanolic extract of tea leaves (Camellia sinensis L.) using different concentrations of Carbopol 940. Methods: This study was a laboratory experimental study (true experimental) using Carbopol 940 concentrations of 1%, 1.5%, and 2%. The formulations were evaluated during 28 days of storage at room temperature and subjected to an accelerated stability test (cycling test) for 12 days. The evaluated parameters included organoleptic properties, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, foam height, spreadability, and skin irritation. Results: The evaluation results demonstrated that all gel shampoo formulations met the required standards for pH, viscosity, homogeneity, organoleptic properties, foam height, spreadability, and skin irritation. The consistency test indicated that Formula II fulfilled the specified requirements. Furthermore, all formulations remained organoleptically stable without any changes in color or odor during both room-temperature storage and accelerated stability testing (cycling test). Conclusion: The ethanol extract of tea leaves (Camellia sinensis L.) can be successfully formulated into a stable gel shampoo that meets the required physical evaluation standards. The optimal formulation was obtained using 1.5% Carbopol 940, which exhibited the best physical stability throughout the storage period and is predicted to remain stable for up to 12 months based on the cycling test results.
