Abstract
uji dipercepat (Cycling Test). Parameter evaluasi yang dilakukan meliputi uji pH,
viskositas, tinggi busa, stabilitas busa, homogenitas, perubahan warna, perubahan
seluruh formula sediaan sampo ekstrak daun delima (Punica granatum L.)
memenuhi persyaratan pH, viskositas, tinggi busa, dan stabilitas busa. Sediaan
selama penyimpanan suhu kamar maupun uji dipercepat (Cycling Test).
gejala iritasi seperti kemerahan, gatal, rasa panas, maupun perih.
CMC 1%.
Kata Kunci : Daun delima, gelling agent, Na CMC, sampo, stabilitas fisik.
Background: Hair loss (alopecia) is a hair health issue that can diminish self-
confidence, creating a need for safe and effective natural hair care products.
Pomegranate leaves (Punica granatum L.) contain flavonoids, tannins, and
saponins—compounds with potential antibacterial and antioxidant properties that
help maintain scalp health. Consequently, pomegranate leaf extract has been
formulated into a shampoo, utilizing varying concentrations of Na-CMC as a
gelling agent.
Methods: This study employed an experimental method, using pomegranate leaf
extract (Punica granatum L.) as the active ingredient in shampoo preparations with
varying concentrations of Na CMC: 0.50% in the control formula and Formula I,
0.75% in Formula II, and 1% in Formula III. After preparation, the formulations
were evaluated for physical stability over 28 days of storage at room temperature
and a 12-day accelerated cycling test. Evaluation parameters included pH,
viscosity, foam height, foam stability, homogeneity, color change, odor change, and
skin irritation.
Results: Based on the evaluation results, all pomegranate leaf extract shampoo
formulations (Punica granatum L.) met the requirements for pH, viscosity, foam
height, and foam stability. The formulations exhibited good homogeneity and did
not experience any color or odor changes during storage at room temperature or
the accelerated cycling test. Skin irritation tests on respondents showed that the
formulations did not cause irritation symptoms such as redness, itching, burning,
or stinging.
Conclusion: Pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) leaf extract can be formulated
into a shampoo product that is stable and meets physical evaluation requirements.
The most optimal formulation is Formula III, containing 1% Na-CMC.
