Abstract

Latar Belakang: Paparan radikal bebas dapat menyebabkan kerusakan kulit
sehingga diperlukan kosmetik berbahan alam yang mengandung antioksidan.
Serbuk kopi robusta (Coffea canephora L.) mengandung senyawa flavonoid,
saponin, tanin, dan steroid yang berpotensi sebagai antioksidan, sedangkan madu
berfungsi sebagai humektan alami. Oleh karena itu, serbuk kopi robusta dan madu
diformulasikan dalam sediaan body scrub krim dengan variasi konsentrasi Span 80
dan Tween 80 sebagai emulgator.
Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental laboratorium dengan
merancang tiga formula body scrub krim menggunakan variasi konsentrasi Span
80 dan Tween 80. Evaluasi dilakukan terhadap kestabilan fisik sediaan meliputi uji
organoleptis, homogenitas, tipe emulsi, pH, daya sebar, dan viskositas. Pengujian
dilakukan selama 28 hari penyimpanan suhu kamar dan uji dipercepat (cycling
test) selama 12 hari.
Hasil: Seluruh formula menunjukkan kestabilan fisik yang baik dan memenuhi
persyaratan mutu fisik sediaan body scrub krim. Formula III dengan kombinasi
Span 80 4,1% dan Tween 80 10,9% menunjukkan kestabilan fisik terbaik dengan
perubahan pH sebesar 0,77%, perubahan viskositas 9,54%, serta daya sebar yang
masih memenuhi persyaratan selama penyimpanan suhu kamar dan uji dipercepat.
Kesimpulan: Serbuk kopi robusta (Coffea canephora L.) dan madu dapat
diformulasikan menjadi sediaan body scrub krim yang stabil secara fisik. Formula
III merupakan formula paling optimal dan memenuhi persyaratan mutu fisik
sediaan.

Background: Exposure to free radicals can cause skin damage, making it
necessary to develop cosmetic products containing natural antioxidants. Robusta
coffee powder (Coffea canephora L.) contains flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and
steroids that have potential antioxidant activity, while honey functions as a natural
humectant. Therefore, robusta coffee powder and honey were formulated into a
body scrub cream using various concentrations of Span 80 and Tween 80 as
emulsifiers to produce a physically stable preparation.
Methods: This study was an experimental laboratory research designed using three
body scrub cream formulations with different concentrations of Span 80 and Tween
80. Physical stability evaluation included organoleptic, homogeneity, emulsion
type, pH, spreadability, and viscosity tests. The preparations were evaluated during
28 days of storage at room temperature and an accelerated stability test (cycling
test) for 12 days.
Results: All formulations showed good physical stability and met the physical
quality requirements of body scrub cream preparations. The preparations
demonstrated good homogeneity, an oil-in-water (O/W) emulsion type, and
acceptable pH, spreadability, and viscosity throughout the storage period. Formula
III containing 4.1% Span 80 and 10.9% Tween 80 exhibited the best physical
stability.
Conclusion: Robusta coffee powder (Coffea canephora L.) and honey can be
formulated into a physically stable body scrub cream preparation. Formula III
containing 4.1% Span 80 and 10.9% Tween 80 was the most optimal formulation
and fulfilled the physical quality requirements of the preparation.
