Abstract
Latar Belakang : Penuaan dini merupakan masalah kulit yang disebabkan oleh
paparan radikal bebas dan sinar ultraviolet. Masker gel peel-off merupakan salah
satu bentuk perawatan kulit yang banyak digunakan. Ekstrak wortel (Daucus
carota L.) mengandung β-karoten dan senyawa antioksidan yang berpotensi
melindungi kulit, sedangkan madu berfungsi sebagai humektan alami. Penggunaan
gelling agent yang tepat diperlukan untuk menghasilkan sediaan dengan
karakteristik fisik yang baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan memformulasikan dan
mengevaluasi masker gel peel-off ekstrak wortel dan madu dengan variasi
konsentrasi polivinil alkohol (PVA).
Metode : Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimental untuk merumuskan
masker gel peel-off dengan 6% ekstrak wortel, 6% madu, dan variasi 13%, 14%,
serta 15% PVA, serta formula kontrol tanpa bahan aktif. Evaluasi dilakukan selama
28 hari penyimpanan pada suhu ruangan dan uji siklus 12 hari, meliputi sifat
organoleptik, homogenitas, pH, viskositas, daya sebar, waktu pengeringan,
sineresis/swelling dan iritasi kulit.
Hasil : Seluruh formula memenuhi persyaratan pH, viskositas, homogenitas, waktu
kering, sineresis/swelling, organoleptik, dan iritasi. Formula dengan PVA 15%
tidak memenuhi persyaratan daya sebar, sedangkan formula dengan PVA 14%
menunjukkan karakteristik fisik paling optimum.
Kesimpulan : Ekstrak wortel (Daucus carota L.) dan madu berhasil diformulasikan
menjadi masker gel peel-off yang stabil pada konsentrasi PVA 13% dan 14%.
Formula terbaik adalah Formula II dengan konsentrasi PVA 14%.

Background : Premature aging is a skin problem caused by exposure to free
radicals and ultraviolet rays. Peel-off gel masks are a popular form of skincare.
Carrot extract (Daucus carota L.) contains β-carotene and antioxidant compounds
that can help protect the skin, while honey works as a natural humectant. Using the
right gelling agent is important to create a product with good physical
characteristics. This study aims to formulate and evaluate a peel-off gel mask made
from carrot extract and honey with different concentrations of polyvinyl alcohol
(PVA).
Method: This study used an experimental method, specifically formulating a peel-
off gel mask with 6% carrot extract and 6% honey as active ingredients, with
variations of PVA: Formula I 13%, Formula II 14%, Formula III 15%, and a
control formula 14% without active ingredients. Evaluations were carried out over
28 days of storage at room temperature and a 12-day cycling test, including
organoleptic testing, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, spreadability, drying time,
syneresis/swelling, and skin irritation.
Results: All formulas meet the requirements for pH, viscosity, homogeneity, drying
time, syneresis/swelling, organoleptic properties, and irritation. The formula with
15% PVA did not meet the spreadability requirements, while the formula with 14%
PVA showed the most optimal physical characteristics.
Conclusion: Carrot extract (Daucus carota L.) and honey were successfully
formulated into a peel-off gel mask that is stable at 13% and 14% PVA
concentrations. The best formula is Formula II with 14% PVA concentration.
