Abstract
Latar Belakang : Paparan sinar matahari yang melimpah dapat menyebabkan berbagai permasalahan kulit, salah satunya penuaan dini yang ditandai dengan kulit menjadi kering dan muncul kerutan. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan sediaan clay mask yang mengandung ekstrak daun murbei (Morus alba L.) sebagai sumber antioksidan yang mampu melindungi sel dari radikal bebas dengan menghambat pembentukan radikal bebas penyebab kerusakan kulit. Kaolin dipilih sebagai basis karena merupakan mineral yang aman dan tidak menyebabkan iritasi pada kulit. Penelitian ini bertujuan memformulasikan clay mask ekstrak daun murbei dengan variasi konsentrasi kaolin sebagai basis yang stabil dan memenuhi persyaratan mutu, serta mengevaluasi dan meramalkan stabilitas fisik sediaan melalui pengujian pH, viskositas, waktu mengering, homogenitas, daya sebar, bau, warna, dan iritasi kulit selama penyimpanan pada suhu kamar selama 28 hari serta melalui uji dipercepat (cycling test) selama 12 hari yang mewakili stabilitas penyimpanan selama 12 bulan.
Metode : Penelitian yang dilakukan merupakan penelitian eksperimental dengan membuat beberapa formula clay mask yang mengandung ekstrak daun murbei(Morus alba L.) dengan variasi kaolin sebagai basis sebesar 30%, 35% dan 40%. a), dengan mengevaluasi stabilitas fisik sediaan ditinjau dari pH, viskositas, waktu mengering, homogenitas, daya sebar, bau, warna serta iritasi kulit yang disimpan pada suhu kamar selama 28 hari dan uji dipercepat (cycling test).
Hasil : Hasil pengujian kestabilan fisik sediaan clay mask yang mengandung ekstrak daun murbei (Morus alba L.) dengan variasi konsentrasi kaolin sebagai basis clay mask selama 28 hari penyimpanan pada suhu kamar dan selama 12 hari pada uji dipercepat (cycling test) menghasilkan seluruh formula yang memenuhi syarat. Variasi kaolin mempengaruhi karakteristik sediaan apabila konsentrasi kaolin semakin tinggi maka nilai viskositas akan semakin besar dan daya sebar yang dihasilkan akan semakin kecil.
Kesimpulan : Daun murbei (Morus alba L.) dapat diformulasikan sebagai clay mask dengan variasi kaolin sebagai basis yang memenuhi persyaratan baik pada penyimpanan suhu kamar selama 28 hari maupun uji dipercepat(cycling test), dengan formula II sebagai formula yang paling optimal dengan variasi kaolin sebesar 35%.

Background: Excessive exposure to sunlight can cause various skin problems, one of which is premature aging characterized by dry skin and the appearance of wrinkles. Therefore, a clay mask containing mulberry leaf (Morus alba L.) extract is needed as a source of antioxidants that can protect skin cells from free radicals by inhibiting their formation, thereby preventing skin damage. Kaolin was selected as the base because it is a safe mineral and does not cause skin irritation. This study aimed to formulate a clay mask containing mulberry leaf (Morus alba L.) extract with varying concentrations of kaolin as the base to obtain a stable formulation that meets quality requirements. In addition, the physical stability of the formulation was evaluated and predicted by assessing pH, viscosity, drying time, homogeneity, spreadability, odor, color, and skin irritation during storage at room temperature for 28 days and through an accelerated stability test (cycling test) conducted for 12 days, representing a predicted storage period of 12 months.
Methods: This experimental study formulated several clay mask preparations containing Morus alba L. leaf extract with varying kaolin concentrations of 30%, 35%, and 40% (Formulas I, II, and III). The physical stability of each formulation was evaluated based on pH, viscosity, drying time, homogeneity, spreadability, color, odor, and skin irritation after storage at room temperature for 28 days and under accelerated stability testing using the cycling test method.
Results: The physical stability evaluation showed that all clay mask formulations containing Morus alba L. leaf extract met the required quality standards after 28 days of storage at room temperature and after 12 days of accelerated stability testing (cycling test). The variation in kaolin concentration affected the physical characteristics of the formulations, with higher kaolin concentrations resulting in increased viscosity and decreased spreadability.
Conclusion: Morus alba L. leaf extract can be successfully formulated into a clay mask using different concentrations of kaolin as the base. All formulations met the required physical stability criteria during both 28-day room temperature storage and accelerated stability testing (cycling test). Formula II, containing 35% kaolin, was identified as the optimal formulation.
