Abstract
Early breastfeeding and exclusive breastfeeding during the first 0–6 months of life provide fundamental benefits for both the baby and the mother, including supporting growth, boosting immunity, lowering the risk of infection and death, and aiding postpartum recovery. However, the practice of exclusive breastfeeding in Indonesia still faces challenges such as restrictions that vary between regions, physical and psychosocial constraints of mothers, and inadequate workplace support so that it has not fully reached the target of the national program. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method that applies a one group pretest-posttest design. Samples were taken through purposive sampling technique consisting of 36 mothers with babies aged 0–6 months. Based on the results of the study, before the intervention, the majority of respondents had less knowledge of 20 people (55.6%) and 7 people (19.4%) had good knowledge, while negative attitudes were possessed by 21 people (58.3%) and positive attitudes by 15 people (41.7%). After being educated through video media, there was a significant increase where sufficient knowledge decreased to 3 people (8.3%) and good knowledge increased to 33 people (91.7%), while negative attitudes decreased to 2 people (5.6%) and positive attitudes increased to 34 people (94.4%). This study found significant differences in maternal knowledge and attitudes before and after intervention with a value of p = 0.000 < 0.05, which showed a significant influence on maternal knowledge and attitudes at TPMB Yosephine Palembang. This research is expected to help and motivate mothers to provide exclusive breastfeeding to their babies.
